RULES & REGULATIONS
All teams, coaches, players, and fans are expected to follow these rules. PIAA rules apply unless otherwise noted below.
Equipment & Basketballs
Basket Height: 9-foot baskets for Girls 3rd/4th Grade division. 10-foot baskets for all other divisions.
Basketball Size: All girls divisions and boys 3rd/4th grade will use a 28.5″ circumference basketball.
Basketball Size: Boys 5th and 6th grade divisions will use a standard 29.5″ circumference basketball.
Game Balls: Game balls will be provided by the tournament. Teams should bring their own balls for warmups.
Game Format & Clock
Game Length: Two 16-minute halves with a running clock.
Clock Stoppages: The clock will stop for all timeouts, free throws, and during the final minute of each half.
Timeouts: Each team receives 2 timeouts per half (45 seconds each). Unused timeouts do not carry over to the next half.
Overtime (Pool Play): One 2-minute overtime period, followed by sudden death if still tied.
Overtime (Bracket/Championship): Continuous 1-minute overtime periods until a winner is decided.
Overtime Timeouts: Each team receives 1 timeout for overtime. Timeouts do not carry over from regulation.
Full Court Press Rules
Teams may only press when leading by fewer than 15 points during the following times:
Girls 3rd/4th Grade
Last minute of the 2nd half and overtime only
Boys 3/4 & Girls 5th/6th
Last 3 minutes of each half and overtime
Boys 5th & 6th Grade
No restrictions
Fouls & Free Throws
Individual Fouls: Players are permitted 6 personal fouls before fouling out.
Bonus: One-and-one free throws begin at 7 team fouls per half.
Double Bonus: Two free throws are awarded at 10 team fouls per half.
Overtime: Team fouls do not reset for overtime periods.
Tiebreaker Rules
When two or more teams finish pool play with identical records, the following tiebreakers are applied in order:
Head to Head
Result of the game played between the tied teams
Point Differential
Net scoring margin, capped at 15 points maximum per game
Defensive Points Allowed
Fewest total points allowed across all pool games
Coin Flip
Conducted by Tournament Directors if all other tiebreakers are equal
Sportsmanship & Conduct
Ejection Policy: Referees and Tournament Directors reserve the right to remove any coach, fan, or player for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Technical Fouls: A second technical foul on any individual will result in automatic expulsion from the tournament.
PIAA Standards: All PIAA rules and regulations will be followed unless specifically noted otherwise in these rules.
Final Authority: Any questions not explicitly addressed by these rules or standard PIAA rules will be decided by the Tournament Directors. All decisions are final.
